Explosives and Energetic Materials

Octogene - HMX

Compared to RDX, HMX offers higher density and rate of detonation. It is used as main charge (especially in HEAT projectiles and supersonic rocket warheads) and for man¬ufacture of detonating fuzes.

Hexogen (RDX)

Has a high degree of stability in storage and is considered the most powerful and brisant of the military high explosives. Hexogen can be used alone as a base charge for detonators or mixed with another explosive such as TNT, which produce a bursting charge for aerial bombs, mines, and torpedoes or as an ingredient in plastic bonded explosives.

Trinitrotoluene - TNT

TNT grade I and III is used as main explosive charge in artillery and mortar projectiles and in hand grenades. It can also be used for production of other explosive materiel in composition with RDX, HMX, PETN, TNT grade IV (solidification point 77.790 C) is primarily used in mining.

Penthrite (PETN)

One of the most powerful and most bristant explosive, is used in the manufacture of detonating fuse, detonators and plastic explosives. If phlegmatized with a small amount of wax and pressed, it may be used to produce boosters and fillings for smaller caliber projectiles. PETN can also be incorporated into gelatinous, industrial explosives.

NTO

NTO is a very low sensitivity molecule for insensitive explosive compositions.Available in all standard particle sizes, and specific ones on request, NTO presents the advantages of high performance explosives, with lower vulnerability and enhanced thermal stability.

n-bunena

The laboratory synthesis of the energetic plasticizer n-buNENA was scaled up to one kg batch size and the compound was fully characterized by spectral data and elemental analysis. N-buNENA was formulated with CMDB and EDB propellant compositions. The results showed an improvement in mechanical properties and burning rate over a wide range of pressure along with acceptable limits of hazard and thermal stability as compared to DEP based propellant systems.

HNS

Owing to its stability at high temperature and its excellent performance, HNS has several applications in the aerospace, ammunition and oil & gas industries, where thermal and/or vacuum stability are required.
